thinkingMS.com was registered on December 11th, 2003. Looking back now, it's been just above 4 months since the move to put this site up. Whew! Am I glad it is finally up.
Not quite though. As I write this, I got to upload the content through the backend FTP. The site admin still requires a few server configurations to work fine, and I hope that happens in the next couple of days.
But overall, I am glad we are finally up.
A little history.. thinkingMS.com was an idea to put up a website for technology articles, code samples, downloads, and the like on Microsoft technologies. Vadivel and myself were the initial brains behind the not-so-new-idea and the domain name. Over the past four months, I also got to know Roshan and Pooja, who have honored the site by making this their new home. Saju, a long-time friend and co-Microsoft enthusiast, was after me ever since he heard the idea that he wanted to make this his home too. I am glad to welcome him here.
The name thinkingMS comes from the popular “Thinking in ...” series made famous by Bruce Eckel. Though the name sounds very much like this site will worship Microsoft, say a lot of pro-MS things, talk ill about other wonderful non-MS technologies and promote Microsoft technologies, you might soon realize that this is not all true.
I adore Microsoft. I love the company and respect its innovations. But the spirit of this website is to speak freely, muse about random things, even non-technical, and to share knowledge that we gain. You will see a mix of different thoughts on the journey of thinkingMS.
The idea of saying this upfront was to ensure that you are not surprised if you see some hard criticism of Microsoft if any of the authors felt that way. At the same time, if our authors talked about some innovative technology from Microsoft, do not discount the objectivity with which it is written.
As the home page has already mentioned, we look forward to your feedback, comments and suggestions to help us improve this website.
Welcome to thinkingMS.
