Software

This is some software that I appreciate. At the time of this writing I intend this to be a collection of stuff that make a good toolkit rather than to full blown reviews about a lot of stuff. Some of these things might look good in your toolkit too, depending on your line of interest.

This is a random list to which I intend to add stuff as I feel like. No obligations to anyone here.. sorry.

Further, if there is something you can suggest, please send me email

Languages

    Ruby
Ruby is an object oriented interpreted programming language along the lines of perl/python, but only better. Worth a look.

Internet/Networking

    FlashGet Download Manager
FlashGet is a good download manager with a lot of features, more than  what is available with the usual getright, gozilla or download accelarator.

Features include stuff like being able to specify filename ranges to download, download from places like egroups, download all the links from a html page in your browser...

Utilities

    Winrar Archiver
Archiver, supports all the major archive types and usually does a better job than zip, with features like automatic file splitting, sfx, compressing across multiple files. Homepage:

Dos

    4dos System Shell
4dos is one of the best dos shells out there. It offers most of the features required like history, automatic tab completion, online help, a very small foot print, extended command sets, extended scripting support etc.

One of the must haves for the dos junkie.
